"What is Childhood?"

In the next story we will be reading, the character is trying to move from childhood to adolescence/adulthood. What are your thoughts about childhood?
What differentiates childhood from other times in your life?
In what ways are children idealistic and naïve? How/why/when does this change?

  1. I didn't have a childhood i would not know.
but i have the impression that it is where you have fun as a kid not worry about anything.
you have to work other parts of your life in some way shape or form.
They don't know what to do they are to young they talk to the strangers until they learn not to.
when they get older, they talk to there parents and ask questions, they start to understand.

  2. My thoughts about kids are the don't understand things, they are talkative, and are interested in lots of things. Things that change from kids childhood is How their family is, if they have brother/ sisters, where they go to school, and other things like that. This changes because of how you are able to change, and what you end up doing int years to come. You learn more the years you live good/ bad, but learn from people.

  3. The difference between childhood and any other time in your life is that when you are a child your parents are preparing you for the life ahead of you. They are making sure that you are ready for work when they are old enough to go to work. Children are naïve and idealistic because they don't know that there are people out there that may want to harm them, they also don't know what they are supposed to think when some stranger talks to them. This all changes when they can get a job and when they can drive. How this changes is the parent could give them more responsibilities to do before any of this. Why this changes, the reason that it changes is their parents want them to be prepared for all the good and the bad in their life.

  4. I have had a long and hard childhood being a slave to my parents and siblings always get bossed around or beat up. School was kinda hard for me not always getting good grades so my parents would yell at me making me feel even worse because I was a disappointment to them.

  5. Childhood is when kids don't really pay attention who they talk to or whats around them. It differs because you have more responsibilities as you get older. Children are naive when some older people try talking to littler kids.

  6. Most kids ask lots of questions, depend only on their parents,: and care only about friends, food, video games, and sports.

  8. being a child is not knowing how the real world is. thinking that everything is happy when really its not and the world is kinda crapy. and in all reality the world is not fair.

  9. When your a child you don't really have many responsibilities and don't really care about much. When you get older you gain more responsibilities and judge people more.

  10. Childhood is where kids just want to have fun. They basically live in a dream world where they think everything is just perfect, when really its just perfect for them because they don't have to work or anything. Childhood ends around when you start 1st grade

  11. Childhood is when kids have parents to take care of them. I think that childhood ends at 14. But it matters how your parents are. Childhood is also when you really don't pay attention to the rest of the world.

  12. A child is naive, they don't think that anyone can do them any harm. Children should all be happy, and have fun everyday. Childhood is a great time in life and it only happens once. My childhood hasn't been great, but I've made the best of it.

  13. You lose your childhood around age 13. Children are naive when some older people try talking to littler kids. They never ever do what they you say.. Trust me I have 12 kids in my family!

  15. When your a child, you don't know what is happening in the world. They think everything is great, but when you grow up you wish you could be a kid again. When your an adult you have to pay your bills and insurance and food and you have to work. When your a kid you get to have fun. People say that its not all fun and games but for a child, they think it is.

  16. I think that my childhood was very fun. I didn't know much and I did what I wanted I thought only of myself and not of others and was very crazy. I think that peoples childhoods should be fun, you shouldn't have to worry about taking the garbage out of doing the laundry but you cant just sit like a potato. As a kid you need some responsibilities and with that your childhood should be fun and exiting, make it the way you want it to be.

  17. my thoughts are that childhood is young kids that have fun and are care free. Other times in our life are harder and we have more work than in childhood. Children are idealistic and naïve because they believe everyone is nice and truthful. This changes when children are either taught by and adult or when they experience this on their own.

  18. Childhood is not having responsibilities. It is being a kid and not having to worry about all the horrible things grownups have to deal with. When you are little all you have to do is have fun!

  20. I think childhood is when you have fun and actually be a kid and get to do all the things a kid would want to do. When your a kid you really don't know what is happening around you and you don't really care because you are off in some other little world.

  21. When your a child you don't have to worry about much. Your parents take care of you. Then when you grow up living on your own your wishing you were back a child because then you didn't have so many responsibilities.

  22. When your a child, you don't know many things. When I think children I think of laughter, happiness, and fun. Children are very mischievous , they wonder about many different things. They always have to touch, feel, smell, and see everything around them. My childhood was great. I don't regret one part of it.

  23. Being a child means you have no worries, no bills, no anything. You just live their life. It means everyday you have fun because it only happens once, so make the best of it. Childhood ends whenever you feel it ends. You could be a child until the age of 4 or 14. The only difference is that when you feel like you need to grow up and mature, then you're in adolescence. If you had to grow up early, then you grew up early. No matter what, everyone had some type of childhood, good or bad. Regardless the situation.

  24. Childhood is something that is easily missed when you grow up and mature. You don't get the chance to have lemonade stands on the side of the road, or invite your friends over to have tea parties with your dolls. Your time is spent doing a million other things. Instead of selling that lemonade to make a dollar or two just for fun, you have to find a real job to support yourself. Instead of inviting your friends over for tea parties, you talk about boys, school, and drama. Childhood should be a time to have fun, enjoy life and be innocent.

  25. Childhood is technically the time of person's life when they are a child, but now days, kids grow up too fast, and it means something different. The time of a person's live when they're still naive, and idealistic. They're excited about everything, and still have so much to learn, and almost no worries.

Childhood is a lot different than any other time in your life for the main reason that you don't have many responsibilities.

Children are idealistic, and naïve because they don't understand yet how cruel the world can be sometimes, and they think everyone is good, which is why mostly children are the ones who get kidnapped, because they don't know any better.

I think children grow into adults when they learn more about the world, people, and facts of life, when they gain responsibility, and are obligated to grow up.

  26. When your a child you will probably not remember certain times you had, and when your a child you should just live your life at the part of your life and just have fun without regrets and consequences.

  30. In your childhood you dont have to worry about a lot of stuff and you dont have much responsibility. you need to have fun in your childhood and not worry about anything, because when you grow up and mature you have to get a real job and pay bills.

  31. a childhood is the time of person's life when they are a child. There is alot of stuff you can do when your a child and when your an adult you probobly cant do that. When you an adult your gonna have to get a job and you wont have enough time to do stuff.
