"The Possibility of Evil"

Miss Strangeworth's motives in sending the letters were to "protect" HER town from evil. She thinks that there is "so much evil in people." Do you agree with her? Why or why not? (6 sentences are required for full credit)

  1. Yes, I do. Evil is in everyone and you can't deny it. Now some people are able to overturn the evil in themselves and be good respectful citizens, but there is evil in everyone. God/Jesus are the only people who never have had evil within them.

  2. It depends on who it is. Some people may have evil thoughts, but they don't do evil things, just things that are morally frowned upon, but everyone messes up, and acts inappropriately some times. It's just more than others, I guess when it's evil, so maybe they're just minor acts of evil? We all have our moments where we act badly, but that doesn't make it evil, necessarily.

  3. Yes, I do. I think many people have evil thoughts. Just in some people, you don't see it as much as others. Sometimes, it depends on the person. But many people just have moments where they just act inappropriately, to me that's not the same as acting evil.

  4. No, i don't agree with her. Just because people have not so good thoughts doesn't mean its EVIL. People can't just have evil, if you have evil it means you want it. It means you want to do evil things. EVIL is when you WANT to do something wrong. I realize there are bad things, but most of it isn't evil, she wasn't right at all.

  5. Yes, there is evil in everyone. Some people just do bad things more often than others; some people try really hard not to do bad things. But everyone messes up, and EVERYONE has evil in them.

  6. No, I don't agree with her. I think that Miss Strangeworth was being evil herself. I think that she was very rude to the townspeople and she was into everyone's business. She shouldn't have sent those letters because she didn't have any right to. It was their business, not her's. But then again, everyone has evil in them.

  7. Everyone has their own opinion on things, but i dont agree, because she wasn't a very nice person to the rest of the people. But thats just how some people are, and you have to respect them.

  9. yes indeed i agree i think there is so much negativity but not everybody but she was not protecting the towns people's town and i like the story a little.

  10. I think that everyone has evil in them. They maybe able not to show it, but either way yes everyone does. Weather its the thoughts they have or its the things they do everyone has evil in them. I don't think that Miss Strangeworth should have written the letters though. That was her kinda of "evil" and she didn't have the right to do that.

  11. I don't agreed with her. People can't just have evil. If you have evil it means you want it. But everyone has evil in them. Miss Strangeworth was not a very nice person. She was very mean to people. She shouldn't have sent anonymous letters, It wasn't her job to tell people what was going on.

  12. No, I don't agree with her. There is not evil in everyone. I think that Miss Strangeworth worries to much, she just needs to let people live their life. Some people act the way they do because of something that has happened to them in the past. Miss Strangeworth was a great person she just worried to much.

  13. No she is like really mean about it because she doesn't know that those things are happening

  14. No, I do not agree with her. What she thinks is "evil" is different from actual evil. She thinks she is perfect when she is actually causing problems for other people and telling them stuff that she assumes. None of the letters are actually 100% true.

  16. I think the old lady should have shut her mouth! It wasn't her place to tell other people things! I guess in a way, it wasn't her fault seeing as she was just trying to help, and not hurt the families. I thought it was an okay story.

  17. Yes i agree with her because everyone has evil inside them. Their are other people that have more evil in them and they do bad stuff. Every one has evil in them because every 1 does evil stuff in there life time.

  18. I think there is evil in a lot of people but not all people. It depends on who it is though. Some people do evil things. Some people say evil things. Everyone will do something bad in their life at one point in time, but it doesn't mean they are evil. Most likely they will regret what they did to bring the evil out in them.

  19. I did not agree with her because nobody she wrote had any evil in them. She thought that just because her grandfather had built the 1st building, she could run the town. If anybody was evil, it was her. She made people feel worse than they did before the letter was read. She thought she was helping but she wasn't. I think she deserved to have her flowers destroyed.

  20. No I don't agree. I think that the old lady is trying to protect her town though. There isn't evil in the people that live in the small town. Miss Strangworth is causing evil in the small town.

  21. I do agree with her. There are a lot of people who are just plain evil in this world. Not everybody is though. I think she was writing the letters to hurt all the people in her town, and not to save herself from evil.

  22. there is evil in some people because all they do is be mean. But in other people there is little to no evil because they are nice and helpful all the time to anyone. So it goes both ways.

  23. I disagree because not everybody has evil within them. They may have evil thoughts but not evil actions, which doesn't really count. There are some people that are overtaken with evil. But not everybody is like that. It just depends on the person I guess.

  24. I kind of agree with her because everyone has evil in them and she was trying to save her town from evil. But, she was creating evil when she wrote those letters. Some of the letters she wrote were rude. She had no right to write some of the things that she did. She thinks that writing the letters helps but sometimes it makes things worse.

  25. No I don't agree with her. I don't think there is evil in everybody. I believe everyone is different and do different things. You can't call everyone evil based on what some people do. Even if the person thinks evil, as long as they don't act as such, they are not evil. I think she had more evil in her than the rest of the town together.

  26. I do not agree with her. I think that there is evil in some people but not everyone. People sometimes make bad choices, but that doesn't make them evil or a bad person. I don't think that any of the people Miss Strangeworth wrote to had evil. She was actually creating more bad than there was to begin with.

  27. I agree with her but I don't think everyone shows their evil and that people can be good and respectful but sometimes they slip up and makes mistakes but everyone makes mistakes once in a while

  28. I agree with her, nut i think that she was creating more evil then there already was.

  29. I agree with her because there is always evil or bad in everybody. The only thing is is that she was creating the evil not the towns people creating it.

  30. I disagree. Every one has some evil in them but it is people opinion as to how evil they think you are.
